Swanson, Martin & Bell, LLP was a proud sponsor of the Alexander P. White Dinner hosted by the Illinois Creditors Bar Association (ILCBA) on May 1, 2025. Our attorneys had the opportunity to attend the event and celebrate the 2025 Award Recipient, the Honorable Martin S. Agran. Partner Douglas C. Giese currently serves as Chair of the Technology Committee and is a member of the Education Committee for ILCBA.

The Alexander P. White award was established in 2015 as recognition for the bar association’s 20th anniversary. ILCBA decided to give an annual award to honor individual judges who, during their careers, and through their rulings and demeanor, created a fair playing field for both creditors and debtors within the court system, and who also advanced the law regarding the enforcement of Judgments.

Founded in 1995, ILCBA is a statewide organization for attorneys practicing in the area of creditors rights. Members concentrate their practice in various areas including commercial collections, consumer collections, foreclosures, evictions, subrogation, and bankruptcy. With over 200 members, the ILCBA is the largest organization of its kind in the country. In 2007, the ILCBA became an accredited CLE provider and hosts a number of seminars each year that offer attorneys CLE hours.

Douglas C. Giese is a partner at Swanson, Martin & Bell, LLP, and a member of the firm's Commercial Litigation and Business Disputes Practice Group, as well as the Creditors' Rights and Bankruptcy Practice Group. He focuses his efforts on resolving complex problems, and when necessary, both obtaining and enforcing judgments.

Keegan J. Madden serves as Chair of Swanson, Martin & Bell, LLP’s Creditors’ Rights Department, with James S. Harkness serving as Vice Chair.
