A cyclist injured when a car allegedly struck the rear of his electronic bike has sued the car's driver.
Phillip Davis filed a lawsuit May 27 in Cook County Circuit Court against Tiara Williams, alleging personal and pecuniary injuries.
According the complaint, at 7:45 p.m. June 8, 2013, Williams was driving on Mannheim Road in the right lane, at Jackson Street in HIllside, when, at the same time, Davis was driving an electronic bike on Mannheim in the left lane, near the same intersection. After Davis moved his bicycle into the center lane, the suit says, Williams struck him in the rear.
The defendant is cited with failing to: keep a proper lookout; change lanes properly; slow down; stop prior to a collision; take evasive measures; drive a safe speed; and drive in a conscientious manner.
Davis seeks damages in excess of $50,000, plus costs. He is represented by attorney Brian J. Holmes of Hurley, McKenna & Mertz in Chicago.
