The estate of a man is suing a nursing home over allegedly neglectful care before the man's death.

Cassandra Davis, as administrator of the estate of Alonzo Johnson, filed a complaint on May 27 in Cook County Circuit Court against Glenshire Nursing and Rehabilitation Centre Ltd.

The deceased lived from June 1 to Sept. 23, 2013, at the defendant's facility, at 22660 S. Cicero Ave., Rickton Park.

During the time before his death, the defendant is alleged to have failed to provide supervised care to the deceased, protect him from neglect, to develop and implement a plan for Johnson's medical needs, to adequately monitor and treat the plaintiff for sepsis, and to provide medical care.

As a result, the lawsuit states, Johnson suffered permanent, personal and pecuniary damages until his death on Sept. 23, 2013, such as pain and suffering, medical expenses, disability and loss of a normal life.

The plaintiff, citing violation of the Nursing Home Care Act, wrongful death and negligence, seeks damages in excess of $150,000, plus costs.

The plaintiff is represented by Gregg E. Strellis of Strellis and Field in Chicago.

Cook County Circuit Court case no. 2015L005377.
