A woman injured in an elevator injury at work is suing her employer and the people who made, installed or maintained the elevator.
Dolores Georg filed a complaint May 22 in Cook County Circuit Court against Southwest Industries Inc., Anderson Elevator Co., Kone Inc., Armor Kone Elevator Inc. and Armor Elevator Co. Inc.
On June 3, 2013, Georg was employed by Allstate Insurance Co. The lawsuit states that Georg was riding in an elevator used, made or maintained by the defendants in the South Plaza of Allstate's building at 3075 Sanders Road, Northbrook.
The elevator "rapidly descended," the lawsuit states, "followed by an abrupt ascent," which caused Georg to become injured.
The defendants, who either built, installed, maintained or owned the elevator, are cited for carelessness and negligence by allowing the elevator to be in an unsafe condition, failed to equip the elevator with adequate safety devices, failed to design a feasible alternative safety feature, provide a feasible design for the elevator, provide warnings of the risk of elevator usage, and for the elevator's condition and open use itself.
As a result of the incident, the lawsuit states that Georg not only suffered injury, but also pain and suffering, and medical expenses.
The plaintiff seeks damages in excess of $300,000, plus costs.
The plaintiff is represented by Robert A. Langendorf PC in Chicago.
