A female cyclist, allegedly injured when a truck struck her bike, has sued the truck's driver and owner.

Victoria Harmon, of Chicago, filed a lawsuit May 6 in Cook County Circuit Court against Pedro Salas and Garda CL Great Lakes Inc., citing negligence.

According to the complaint, on July 8, 2014, Harmon was riding her bicycle south on Milwaukee Avenue near Ashland Avenue in Chicago when Salas, driving a Ford truck owned by the other defendant, struck Harmon's bike and caused her to fall to the ground.

The defendants are cited for failing to: exercise a degree of caution; keep a proper lookout; operate at a safe speed; sound his horn; and yield the right of way. As a result, the lawsuit states, Harmon sustained injuries, pain and suffering, medical expenses and lost wages.

Harmon seeks damages in excess of $100,000, plus costs. She is represented by attorney Jonathan D. Treshansky of Bekkerman Law Offices in Chicago.
