A Cook County woman filed suit against a municipal authority for alleged wrongful death in a 2014 incident.

Lois Trask of Chicago brought a complaint May 26 in Cook County Circuit Court against Chicago Transit Authority alleging negligence in a May 2014 accident.

According to the filing, the plaintiff was a passenger on a CTA transit bus in Chicago on May 26, 2014. The suit states that the defendant violated its duty not to create an unreasonable risk of harm to the plaintiff by acting in reckless disregard for the plaintiff’s well-being when she received no answer from the defendant during a phone conversation following the death of a 19-month-old child evidently killed while on the bus.

The complaint states that the plaintiff was forced to hold the bus driver down and pray in order to prevent further emotional and physical harm to herself and others; and that the defendant’s negligence caused the plaintiff substantial mental, physical and financial harm.

Trask complains that a previous claim was denied by the defendant; and that a letter of denial alleged to have been sent out about March 12, 2015, was not received. The exact nature of the accident was not revealed in the filing.

The plaintiff seeks damages in the amount of $200,000; plus attorneys’ fees and costs. She is self-represented at this time.
