A former maintenance mechanic with mesothelioma is suing dozens of makers or installers of asbestos-containing products.
Martin Rosenstiehl filed a lawsuit June 2 in Cook County Circuit Court against dozens of companies, alleging exposure to asbestos on the job and product liability.
According to the complaint, Rosenstiehl, from 1952 to 1989, worked as a maintenance mechanic at various locations and "inhaled, ingested or otherwise absorbed asbestos fibers emanating from certain products he was working with and around that were manufactured, sold, distributed, marketed or installed by the defendants."
As a result, the lawsuit states, the plaintiff was diagnosed March 30 with the asbestos-related disease mesothelioma.
Rosenstiehl seeks damages in excess of the court's jurisdictional limit and court costs. He is represented by attorney Charles A. Porretta of Cooney and Conway in Chicago.
