A pedestrian allegedly injured walking to a CTA train stop has sued Chicago and the city transit authority for not fixing a crooked sidewalk.

Purnima Setia filed a complaint June 1 in Cook County Circuit Court against the Chicago Transit Authority and the city of Chicago, alleging premisis liability and general negligence.

According to the complaint, on Aug. 28, 2014, Setia was at the CTA's Western Brown Line train station, walking from the bus stop to the train stop, when she was "caused to fall because the walking surface was in a state of dangerous, unsafe and/or hazardous disrepair, creating a deviation of more than 2 inches in height."

As a result, the suit says, the plaintiff experienced severe and permanent injuries, loss of the ability to work and medical expenses.

Setia seeks damages in excess of $200,000, plus costs. She is represented by attorney Parag P. Bhosale of The Law Offices of Parente and Norem in Chicago.

Cook County Circuit Court case number: 2015L005522.
