A man with lung cancer is suing dozens of businesses, alleging responsibility with making asbestos for a long a part of his life.

John L. Quiroz Jr. filed a complaint May 12 in Cook County Circuit Court against those companies.

According to the complaint, Quiroz worked at a variety of locations as a laborer and steel plant worker from 1958 to 1979. As a result of the defendants all allegedly manufacturing, designing, selling, using or marketing asbestos-containing products, the lawsuit states, Quitoz was diagnosed with the asbestos-related disease of lung cancer on Sept. 25, 2014.

Quiroz seeks damages in excess of the court's jurisdictional limits, plus costs. He is represented by attorney Lawrence R. Weisler of Cooney and Conway in Chicago.

Cook County Circuit Court case no. 2015L004851.
