A former laborer's estate is suing over the man's allegedly asbestos-related death.

Chris Hardman, executor of the estate of Gary Lee Hardman, filed a lawsuit June 5 in Cook County Circuit Court against dozens of companies, alleging strict product liability.

From 1953 to 2014, Gary Lee Hardman worked as a laborer and other jobs at various locations. According to the complaint, the defendants were responsible for making, shipping, selling, installing or using asbestos-containing products that the deceased came into contact with over the course of his career.

As a result, the lawsuit states, Hardman became aware he was suffering from the asbestos-related disease mesothelioma on July 21, 2013, and eventually died from the disease Oct. 20, 2014.

Chris Hardman seeks damages for the deceased in excess of the court's jurisdictional limit, plus costs. He is represented by attorney David O. Barrett of Cooney and Conway in Chicago.

Cook County Circuit Court case number 2015L005731.
