A female patient is suing over an infection that allegedly took place after her knee surgery.

Linda Flagg filed a lawsuit June 2 in Cook County Circuit Court against Dr. Ellis Nam and Advocate North Side Health Network, doing business as Advocate Illinois Masonic Hospital in Chicago.

According to the complaint, on Dec. 18, 2009, Flagg came under the care of Nam for a total left knee arthroplasty and replacement. The lawsuit says the defendants: carelessly and negligently performed the procedure; provided inadequate follow-up care instructions; and failed to ensure sterile conditions or promptly diagnose infection.

As a result, the lawsuit states, the plaintiff suffered prolonged injury, pain and suffering and medical expenses.

Flagg seeks damages in excess of $60,000, plus costs. She is represented by attorney Corey E. Meyer of the Law Offices of Meyer and Blumenshine in Chicago.

Cook County Circuit Court case number: 2015L005572.
