A former worker is suing over a disease allegedly contracted due to prolonged exposure to asbestos-containing products.

Norman G. Setter filed a lawsuit May 11 in Cook County Circuit Court against dozens of companies, alleging strict product liability.

According to the complaint, from 1945 to 1979, Setter was employed as an adjuster and mechanic at various locations. The lawsuit states during this time, he was exposed to asbestos fibers in products made, sold, marketed or used by the defendants. As a result, the lawsuit states, he was diagnosed March 25, 2015, with the asbestos-related disease mesothelioma.

Setter seeks damages in excess of the court's jurisdictional limit. He is represented by attorney Lawrence R. Weisler of Cooney and Conway in Chicago.

Cook County Circuit Court case number 2015L004811.
