A couple is suing over the husband's alleged exposure to asbestos that led to his lung cancer.
John H. Galason and Margaret Galason filed a lawsuit May 11 in Cook County Circuit Court against dozens of businesses, alleging secondary exposure and strict product liability.
According to the complaint, from 1951 to 1979, John Galason worked as a truck driver at various locations where he was exposed to asbestos-containing products made, shipped, marketed, sold or used by the defendants. As a result, the lawsuit states, he was diagnosed Oct. 26, 2014, with lung cancer, an asbestos-related disease.
The Galasons seek damages in excess of the court's jurisdictional limit, plus court costs. They are represented by attorney Lawrence R. Weisler of Cooney and Conway in Chicago.
