A Cook County woman is suing Menard's, alleging premises liability in a fall that allegedly resulted in permanent injuries.

Christine Rodriguez filed a complaint June 11 in Cook County Circuit Court against Menard Inc., also known as Menard’s Home Improvement Inc., alleging negligence in a 2013 accident.

According to the complaint, on June 15, 2013, Rodriguez was lawfully on the defendant’s premises at 1300 U.S. Highway 41 in Shererville, Indiana, when she slipped and fell on a liquid in the aisle. The lawsuit states the defendant knew or should have: known of the hazardous nature of the substance; inspected the area; notified their employees; posted warnings for the public, including the plaintiff; and followed standard policies and procedures for maintaining the premises safely.

According to the suit, Rodriguez suffered severe injuries that hindered her and will continue to hinder her in conducting her everyday duties and affairs. She alleges pain, anguish and medical expenses as a direct and proximate result of the defendant’s wrongful acts or omissions.

Rodriguez seeks damages in excess of $50,000, plus attorney fees and costs. She is represented the Law Office of Andrew S. Kryder in Chicago.

Cook County Circuit Court case number 2015L0005979.
