A Cook County woman is suing a restaurant business owner, alleging injuries from a stumble on a wet, soapy floor on the defendant’s premises.
Andrea Harris filed a lawsuit June 15 in Cook County Circuit Court against Hohman Enterprises, on June 15 in Cook County Circuit, alleging negligence.
According to the complaint, on June 25, 2013, Harris slipped and fell on a freshly mopped floor while a customer at the defendant’s KFC restaurant at 1830 Michigan St. in Hammond, Ind. The suit states the defendant carelessly and negligently failed to maintain the floor in its food service facility, applying soapy water to the surface and rendering it unsafe. Harris says the incident was reasonably foreseeable and preventable, and occurred through the defendant’s negligence.
The plaintiff alleges injury to her right hip, and says she has sustained doctor and medical bills, rehabilitative therapy expenses, hospital costs and pharmaceutical expenses along with physical pain and suffering. She also says she has been prevented from attending to her usual everyday duties and affairs.
Harris seeks damages in excess of $50,000 plus attorney fees and costs. She is represented by attorney Charles Candiano of the Candiano Law Office in Chicago.
