Larryrrogersjr

A woman alleges that she was dismissed from a hospital without being told she had a mass on her lung and without the tests that were recommended.

Christine Dinwiddie filed a lawsuit against the University of Chicago Hospital on June 4 in Cook County Circuit Court. Dinwiddie alleges that after she had a chest X-ray on June 4, 2013, doctors interpreted that there was “no obvious traumatic abnormality. Right lung base mass, a thoracic CT recommended.” She alleges she was discharged before the tests were done and she was not informed about the mass, given a copy of the X-ray or told she should follow up because the mass could have been cancerous. A copy of the X-ray also was not sent to Dinwiddie’s primary care physician. According to the lawsuit, Dinwiddie was informed about the mass during an exam in March.

Dinwiddie says that because of these acts, she sustained injuries of a personal, pecuniary and personal nature, including pain and suffering, disability, medical expenses, loss of a normal life and increased likelihood of reduced life expectancy. Dinwiddie is asking the defendant pay her more than $50,000.

The plaintiff is represented by Larry R. Rogers Jr. of Power Rogers & Smith P.C. of Chicago.

Cook County Circuit Court case number 2015L005708.
