A woman's estate is suing a nursing home, alleging negligent care before the woman's death.
Linda Reeder, as administrator of the estate of Anna Kromray, filed a lawsuit June 22 in Cook County Circuit Court against Meadowbrook Manor and Butterfield Health Care Inc., alleging negligent care.
According to the complaint, from Jan. 23-June 24, 2013, Meadowbrook Manor, 431 W. Remington Blvd., Bolingbrook, was tasked with the care of Kromray. The suit says although she had a medical history of dementia, osteoporosis, UTI and hypotension, she didn't have a medical history of pressure sores or vascular ulcers. However, on March 14, 2013, the complaint states, Kromway developed pressure sores on her buttocks, as well as a necurotic wound to her left heel.
The lawsuit states her physician ordered a wound vac be applied to Kromray's left heel but the defendant failed to do so properly. On July 4, 2013, the suit says, Kromray was admitted to Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital and was diagnosed with severe sepsis and an infected left heel.The lawsuit states on July 5, 2013, 70 percent of her left heel was removed in surgery, and on Aug. 15, 2013, she had her left leg removed due to infection. Kromray died Nov. 16, 2013.
Reeder seeks unspecified damages, plus costs. She is is represented by attorney Jeffrey Schlapp of the Schlapp Law Group in Chicago.
