A man who had surgery in 2014 to repair a broken leg is suing three doctors and John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County for alleged malpractice.
Douglas Casey filed a complaint June 19 in Cook County Circuit Court against doctors Jason Magnani, Laith Al-Shihabi and Stroger Hospital.
According to the lawsuit, on June 23, 2014, Casey was admitted to the hospital for a left leg injury, including a fracture of the femur. On the same day, the lawsuit states, a surgical procedure took place to repair the leg.
The defendants are cited with failing to properly treat the leg, obtain proper rotation of the leg before placing internal hardware, properly externally rotating the leg, properly place the hardware, and set the leg at a proper angle.
As a result, Casey was "left with an externally rotated leg and other related damages and injuries," the lawsuit states.
The plaintiff, citing malpractice, seeks damages of more than $50,000, plus costs. Casey is represented by attorney Charles V. Falkenberg, of Chicago.
