A Cook County woman is suing Walgreens, alleging premises liability in a fall inside its store in Chicago Heights.
Jeanette Golden filed a lawsuit June 18 in Cook County Circuit Court against Walgreens Family of Companies, alleging negligence in a 2014 store accident.
According to the complaint, on Feb. 9, 2014, Golden was a patron at the defendant’s 1401 Western Ave., Chicago Heights location, and was in an aisle near the pharmacy when she slipped and fell on a wet substance. The suit says the plaintiff sustained external and internal injuries to her body and limbs, as well as pain and suffering, mental anguish, loss of earnings and earning capacity, disability and loss of a normal life.
The suit blames the defendant for negligence in failing to detect, remedy and warn the public of the hazard and failing to provide a safe walkway. The plaintiff alleges she was hurt as a direct and proximate result of the defendant’s wrongful acts or omissions.
Golden seeks damages in excess of $50,000, plus attorney fees and costs. She is represented by Benjamin & Shapiro of Chicago.
