A Cook County woman is suing a hospital, alleging negligent security regarding an alleged shocking breach of privacy in the facility’s shower room.
Adena Rossolillie filed a lawsuit June 24 in Cook County Circuit Court against THC-North Shore Inc., also known as Kindred-Chicago-Lakeshore, alleging premises liability in a 2014 episode.
According to the filing, on July 31, 2014, Rossolillie was a patient hospitalized at the defendant’s facility at 6130 N. Sheridan Road, Chicago. The suit says the shower room was accessible by two entrances, and although the patient locked one door from the inside to shower, she observed an adult male in the adjoining toilet area looking over the shower curtain and laughing at her while she was nude.
The lawsuit states that when Rossolillie screamed and pulled the nurses’ call cord, the man left the area via the other access way. The plaintiff maintains she put on a towel and waited for a nurse to arrive and, subsequently, she identified the intruder as a hospital employee via security video footage.
The plaintiff alleges the defendant was in breach of ordinary care by allowing an unauthorized person in the private shower room.
Rossolillie seeks damages in excess of $50,000, plus attorney fees and costs. She is represented by attorney Gregory Olmstead of The Deratany Firm in Chicago.
