A man is suing a local hospital over injuries he suffered in a fall just outside the facility.
Daniel Lopez filed a complaint June 25 in Cook County Circuit Court against St. Francis Community Health Center and Presence Health Care.
On Feb. 25, 2014, the lawsuit states, Lopez was exiting the rear door of the defendants' facility at 74764 N. Clark St., Chicago, when he fell over an unmarked step just outside the door. The defendants are cited with failing to have colored paint on the outside step and failing to warn the plaintiff of the step's drop-off.
As a result, the lawsuit states, Lopez suffered personal and pecuniary injuries.
The plaintiff seeks damages in excess of $50,000, plus costs. He is represented by Matthew I. Baker of Sandman, Levy and Petrich of Chicago.
