Estate sues over fatal pedestrian accident

A man's estate is suing the driver who allegedly caused the man's pedestrian death.

Marlayne Sullivan, as administrator of the estate of Robert Sullivan, filed a complaint June 25 in Cook County Circuit Court against Lisa M. Torgerson.

According to the lawsuit, on Sept. 26, 2014, the deceased was crossing Sheridan Road in Wilmette as a pedestrian, from west to east, when struck by Torgerson's vehicle.

The defendant is cited with negligence for failing to keep a proper lookout, operate at a safe speed, decrease her speed to avoid an accident, drive in a single lane of travel, avoid colliding with Sullivan, and driving safely and properly. As a result, the lawsuit states, Robert Sullivan suffered injuries that led to his death.

The plaintiff seeks damages in excess of the court's jurisdictional limits, plus costs. The plaintiff is represented by Mitchell B. Friedman of Morici, Figlioli and Associates in Chicago.

Cook County Circuit Court case number 2015L006499.
