Estate sues over fatal car crash

A woman's estate is suing over the auto accident that took her life.

Ricardo Montoya, as administrator of the estate of Maria Gonzalez, filed a complaint on June 24 in Cook County Circuit Court against Kimberly Kamradt, as representative of the estate of AIman Salem, as well as Feras Ahmad Alhaj.

At 5:25 p.m. July 4, 2014, the deceased was a passenger in a 1991 Dodge Dakota being driven by Hector Gonzalez, who was driving south on Harlem Avenue at 82nd Place in Bridgeview.

At that time, Salem was driving a 2010 Camaro owned by defendant Alhaj north on Harlem Avenue, allegedly well in excess of the speed limit. The Camaro collided with the truck, causing both drivers' deaths.

According to the lawsuit, the defendants are cited for failing to keep a proper lookout, driving at an unsafe speed, failing to stay in one lane and failing to brake in time to avoid a collision.

The plaintiff seeks damages in excess of $100,000 -- $50,000 each from the defendant driver and owner -- plus costs.

The plaintiff is represented by Timothy Heath of Timothy Heath and Associates PC in Naperville.

Cook County Circuit Court case number 2015L006465.
