Former employee sues Walsh Construction for retaliatory discharge

Scales

A carpenter is suing his former employer over claims of retaliatory discharge.

Anthony Vulpitta filed a lawsuit on Oct. 16 in the Circuit Court of Cook County against his former employer Walsh Construction Co. and The Walsh Group LTD, citing unlawful retaliation for pursuing workers compensation benefits, Illinois Human Rights Act and discrimination based on perceived disability.

Vulpitta alleges the defendant fired him on July 11, 2012, after he filed valid workers compensation claims arising out of work related injuries. The plaintiff contends that he satisfactorily performed his work and the defendants continued hiring carpenters after he was terminated.

Vulpitta is seeking damages in excess of $50,000. He is being represented in the case by Chicago law firms Amatore & Associates PC and The Law Office of William M. Walsh LLC.
