Maid suing Extended Stay after guest allegedly masturbated in front of her

Scales

A maid is suing a motel and a male guest after she caught the man allegedly masturbating in front of her in the hallway.

Mamie S. Porter filed a lawsuit Oct. 9 in Cook County Circuit Court against Geoffrey Caravelli and Extended Stay America, citing personal injury.

According to the complaint, Porter was a maid at Extended Stay, 3150 Finley Road in Downers Grove, and on Oct. 10, 2012 and Oct 11, 2012, Geoffrey Caravelli was a resident at the motel.

During Caravelli's stay, Porter claims she found him masturbating openly in the hallway of the premises. Porter says that she complained to Extended Stay management and that management spoke to Caravelli, but did not expel him from the motel.

Porter alleges the next day she was on her hands and knees cleaning another guest's room when Caravelli approached her, tried to shut the door, reached for her and tried to begin masturbating in front of the her.

She states that in order to escape from Caravelli she slapped him, injuring her finger, at which time Caravelli fled again. Porter alleges that Extended Stay failed to expel Caravelli after the first incident and put her in danger.

Porter is suing for an undisclosed amount of damages. She is being represented in the case by attorney Samuel A. Shelist.
