Patrick Loughnane filed suit in the Cook County Circuit Court on Oct. 9, naming United Airlines as defendant.
Loughnane claims he was flying from Chicago to Orange County, Calif., when he was assaulted by a fellow passenger. Loughnane goes on to say the passenger was disoriented or intoxicated and assaulted the flight crew and other passengers. Loughnane is now suing United Airlines, alleging it negligently allowed an unruly passenger on board and failed to alter the flight plan to make an emergency landing to get rid of the problem passenger.
Loughnane is seeking more than $50,000 in damages. He is being represented by Peter D. Cullotta.
