Dominick's sued after patron falls in parking lot

A woman is suing a grocery store chain, claiming a piece of metal in its parking lot caused her to trip and fall.

Dolores Czerniak filed a negligence lawsuit Oct. 18 in the Circuit Court of Cook County against Dominick's, Dominick's Finer Foods Inc. of Illinois, Inland Real Estate Thatcher Woods LLC, Inland Commercial Property Management Inc., Great Lakes Paving, Great Lakes Paving Inc., The Paving People and The Patching People Inc.

The plaintiff alleges on Oct 21, 2011, she sustained serious injuries when she tripped and fell in the parking lot at 3141 Thatcher Ave., in River Grove. According to her complaint, a piece of metal that was previously part of a sign stuck out from the pavement and caused her to trip.

Czerniak is seeking damages in excess of $50,000. She is being represented by Chicago attorney Warren W. Mark.
