Anthony Millspaugh filed a discrimination lawsuit Oct. 15 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Gordon Tech High School.
Millspaugh claims he was the victim of age discrimination and fired because he is gay. According to Millspaugh's suit, he was a teacher at Gordon Tech from 1986 until his firing in January of 2012.
Millspaugh claims that at the hearing to review his termination, he was told that Gordon Tech wouldn't allow his situation to turn into a Jerry Sandusky situation, insinuating he sexually abused children.
Millspaugh's termination was upheld, but he contends he was not given a specific reason as to why he was fired. Millspaugh also claims that while he was employed by Gordon Tech, he was paid less than younger, similarly situated employees.
According to Millspaugh, he was terminated shortly after his last complaint of age discrimination, raising the inference of retaliatory motivation. Millspaugh is suing under Illinois Human Rights Act, alleging he was discriminated on the basis of his age and sexual orientation.
Millspaugh is seeking more than $250,000 in damages. He is being represented by Chicago attorneys Edward B. Mullen III and Jacob J. Meister.
