Theresa Johnson, guardian of the Estate of Jacqueline Johnson, filed suit Oct. 15 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Blue Island Hospital Co. LLC, doing business as Metrosouth Medical Center, Dr. William Zimmerman and Continental Anesthesia Ltd.
According to Theresa Johnson, Jacqueline Johnson is now a disabled person as a result of the defendants' negligence.
Johnson claims Jacqueline was admitted to Metrosouth for a laparoscopic appendectomy and then to Metrosouth's post anesthesia care unit in order to help her recover following her operation.
According to the suit, Jacqueline was negligently cared for, resulting in her disability. Specifically, Johnson claims Metrosouth was negligent in failing to recognize Jacqueline's respiratory distress, protect her airways and monitor her vitals.
Johnson alleges Jacqueline suffered pain and permanent injuries stemming from the incident.
Johnson is seeking more than $50,000 in damages. She is being represented by Chicago attorney Charles V. Falkenberg III.
