A father is suing the owners of an apartment building, alleging that extremely hot water injured his seven-week old daughter.
Donald Franklin, the father and natural guardian of the minor, filed a negligence lawsuit Oct. 18 in Cook County Circuit Court against Equity Investment Group, Petar Jovanovic and Miomira Jovanovic.
According to the complaint, on June 16, Donald Franklin and his seven-week old daughter resided at an apartment owned by Equity Investment Group at 3106 W. Monroe St. in Chicago.
Franklin claims that at that time, Equity maintained and controlled all the utilities at the building, including the temperature for hot water. He alleges that he was giving his daughter a bath when the hot water reached a dangerously high temperature, exceeding 160 degrees, and injured her.
Franklin is seeking damages in excess of $50,000. he is being represented in the case by attorneys at Abels & Annes PC.
