Tamicka Mitchell filed a medical negligence lawsuit in the Cook County Circuit Court on Oct. 21 against Dr. Ravi Deshmukh and Blue Island Hospital Co. LLC, doing business as MetroSouth Medical Co.
According to Mitchell, she was admitted to MetroSouth in June 2012 and diagnosed with acute cholecystitis. Mitchell claims to have underwent a laparoscopic cholecystectomy by Deshmukh, when the doctor allegedly transected Mitchell's bile duct.
Mitchell claims to have suffered serious pecuniary and personal injuries from the incident and is now suing Deshmukh for medical negligence. She is also suing MetroSouth under a vicarious liability theory and seeks to hold both defendants liable for her injuries.
Mitchell is seeking more than $50,000 in damages. She is being represented by Stephen M. Passen of the Passen Law Group.
