Woman breaks leg in fall, sues homeowners

Scales

A Cook County woman is suing homeowners after she broke her leg in a fall while leaving their residence.

Janina Wach filed a lawsuit Oct. 22 in Cook County Circuit Court against Pawel and Eva Opiola, citing premises liability.

According to the complaint, on Nov. 10, 2011, Wach was at the defendants' residence at 8600 Neva Ave. in Burbank, where she says the defendants allowed a large pile of leaves to accumulate at the bottom of the rear stoop of the residence.

She claims that while descending down from the stoop and as a result of the accumulation of leaves, she fell and broke her right leg.

Wach is seeking damages in excess of the jurisdictional limit. She is being represented in the case by attorneys from Ankin Law Office LLC.
