Advocate Trinity Hospital faces medical malpractice suit

Scales

A local hospital and doctor are being sued over claims a patient received inadequate medical care.

Florine Hobson filed a medical malpractice lawsuit in Cook County Circuit Court on Oct. 22 against Advocate Health and Hospitals Corp. doing business as Advocate Trinity Hospital, Dr. Samer Abubakr and Home Visiting Physicians LLC.

Hobson states that in February 2011, she underwent various tests, including a mammogram at Advocate Trinity Hospital.

The complaint states the defendants failed to inform the plaintiff of the test results and the need for a specialist. Hobson contends she was examined by another doctor on Oct. 24, 2011, at which time she was informed the previous biopsy was positive for malignancy and underwent a radical mastectomy.

Hobson is seeking damages in excess of $50,000. She is represented in the case by the Zane D. Smith & Associates LTD.
