The Renaissance at South Shore accused of violating Nursing Home Care Act

A Chicago nursing home is facing a lawsuit over claims it violated the state's Nursing Home Care Act.

Caldonia Simmons filed a lawsuit Oct. 29 in Cook County Circuit Court against The Renaissance at South Shore Inc., doing business as The Renaissance at South Shore.

According to the suit, Simmons was a resident at The Renaissance at South Shore, at 2425 E. 71st St. in Chicago on Nov. 1, 2011.

She claims the defendant failed to properly care for her, including failing to maintain good nutrition and prevent and care for pressure sores.

The plaintiff is seeking more than $50,000 in damages. She is represented in the case by Matthew K. Henry of the Law Offices of Steven J. Malman.
