City sued after woman falls in hole on sidewalk

Scales2

A woman is suing the City of Chicago for injuries she claims she sustained after falling in a hole on the sidewalk.

Amanda Flores filed a lawsuit Nov. 7 in Cook County Circuit Court against the city of Chicago, citing premises liability.

According to the complaint, Flores was walking northbound on the east sidewalk of Monticello Avenue on Dec. 26, 2012 near 1143 N. Monticello Ave. in Chicago.

Flores claims part of the sidewalk had a two-foot-square hole at least three-feet deep and that she fell into the hole with great force, causing injuries. She alleges the city was careless and negligent in failing to repair the hole on the sidewalk.

Flores is seeking damages in excess of $30,000. She is being represented in the case by Michael F. Conway.
