Restaurant, distributors sued over food poisioning

A man is suing a restaurant and four food distributors over claims he suffered food poisoning and contracted  a staph infection.

Sigitas Gircius filed suit Nov. 5 in Cook County Circuit Court against Pit Boss Rib House Inc., Wichita Packing Co., Tanimura & Antle Artisan Lettuce, Lamb-Weston Inc. and Sysco Food Services-Chicago Inc., citing strict liability and negligence against each defendant.

According to the complaint, the defendants prepared, produced, processed, distributed and sold foods for purchase by the public.

Gircius claims that he was a customer at Pit Boss Rib House Inc. on Nov. 5, 2011, and contracted food poisoning following his consumption of food at the restaurant. Due to the food poisoning, he asserts he became infected with methicillin-susceptible staphylococcus anreus and suffered injuries.

Gircius is seeking damages in excess of the jurisdictional limit. He is being represented in the case by attorney Alexander M. Sukhman of Kralovec, Jambois & Schwartz.
