Sunshine Home Care Inc. faces lawsuit for inadequate care

Gorey

A home health care provider is being sued over claims it provided inadequate medical care.

Roberto Lopez filed a medical malpractice lawsuit in Cook County Circuit Court on Oct. 30 against Sunshine Home Care Inc.

Lopez alleges he received home health care nursing services from the defendant on Oct. 31, 2011. While one of the nurses was attending to his PICC line, the nurse accidentally cut through the tube, causing it to retreat into Lopez's body, according to the complaint.

As a result, the suit states, Lopez had to be immediately transported to the hospital and underwent surgery to prevent the PICC line from traveling into his heart.

Lopez is seeking damages in excess of $50,000 and is represented in the case by John R. Gorey of Gorey Law Group PC.
