A bicyclist is suing after he fell into a hole at a Chicago intersection.

Troy Lauren Hoff filed a lawsuit Nov. 13 in Cook County Circuit Court against Peoples Energy LLC, citing negligence.

According to the complaint, Hoff sustained serious injuries on June 12, 2012, after he rode his bicycle into a hole, which caused him to fall into the roadway at the intersection of West Foster and North Rutherford avenues.

The suit states that the defendant performed excavation work at the intersection and failed to repair the hole, post warning signs, secure plating over the hole and barricade the excavation area.

Hoff is seeking damages in excess of $50,000. He is being represented in the case by Sharon A. Kobrin of Munday & Nathan.
