XSport Tan patron files suit over injuries sustained after walking into door

By Thomas Kallies | Nov 26, 2013

Melvin Platzke filed suit Nov. 15 in the Cook County Circuit Court against XSport Tan, doing business as XSport Fitness, and Tan Inc., doing business as Capital Fitness Inc., over injuries he sustained after walking into a door.

According to the complaint, Platzke was at the XSport Tan at 2310 W. Logan Blvd. in Chicago in June 2012 when he was injured.

Platzke claims he walked into XSport Tan from the gym through a open doorway connecting the two facilities and was injured on his way back because the doorway was closed off by a glass door.

The suit states Platzke walked right into the glass door and sustained injuries. In seeking to hold XSport liable for his injuries, Platzke accuses the defendants of being negligent for closing the glass door, and not putting any markings on the door.

He is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is being represented by Chicago attorney Megan O'Connor.
