Chicago faces suit after woman falls in crosswalk

A woman is suing over claims that she fell in a crosswalk.

Bertha Slater filed a lawsuit Oct. 28 in the Circuit Court of Cook County against the City of Chicago, citing negligence.

The plaintiff alleges that on Nov. 13, 2012, she sustained serious injuries when she fell on a crack or pothole in the crosswalk at 26th Street and King Drive in Chicago.

According to the complaint, the defendant breached its duty by failing to warn and failing to maintain the property.

The plaintiff is seeking damages in excess of $50,000. She is being represented by Jameika Mangum of The Mangum Law Firm LLC.
