A woman is suing after suffering injuries from an undiagnosed infection while in the hospital.
Danguole Laurinaviciene filed a medical malpractice lawsuit Nov. 19 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Dr. Robert K. Erickson, Dr. Jonathan Citow, Dr. Olga Gorenyuk, Dr. Eric Chuang and Dr. Best Ginsburg, physician's assistant James A. Baker, Advocate Condell Physicians Partners, Advocate Condell Medical Center, American Center for Spine & Neurosurgery LLC and Lake County Neurosurgery.
The complaint states Laurinaviciene was a patient of the defendants and was admitted to to Advocate Condell Medical Center on Nov. 8, 2011 for brain surgery.
According to the complaint, during her hospitalization between Nov. 8 and Nov. 12, she developed an infection that the defendants failed to diagnose and treat. She also alleges that during her hospitalization and after her release, she was prescribed and administered various medications, including steroids, that were contraindicated because her undiagnosed infection.
The plaintiff alleges that the defendants were negligent in their treatment and failed to perform with the knowledge, skill and care used by reasonably careful medical and nursing personnel.
Laurinaviciene is seeking damages in excess of $50,000 and is being represented in the case by attorney John MacInerney of Hofeld and Schaffner.
