A woman is suing over claims she was injured at an area department store.
Barbara Brotine filed a lawsuit Nov. 19 in the Cook County Circuit Court against MCRIL LLC, doing business as Carson's, Bergner's and the Bon-Ton Department Stores Inc., among others.
According to the suit, Brotine was at the Bergner's store at 2000 N. Neil St. in Champaign in November of 2011 when she was injured. She claims she was standing in the jewelry department when she was struck by a hinged door used by employees to get in and out from behind the counter.
The door apparently caused Brotine to become seriously injured, according to the complaint that alleges negligence under a premises liability theory.
Brotine is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is represented by the Law Office of John A. Ranieri LLC.
