A man is suing after a security guard at a store allegedly accosted him after leaving.
Wardell Ross filed a lawsuit Oct. 29 in Cook County Circuit Court against Moran Foods Inc., doing business as Save-A-Lot, and Lee & Associates Security Services, citing battery and negligence.
According to the complaint, Moran Foods operated a Save-A-Lot store at 4701 S. Cottage Grove Ave. in Chicago. The suit states that Lee & Associates provided security services to the Save-A-Lot store.
Ross claims that on Nov. 20, 2011, he was a customer at the store when the cashier was rude to him, leading to a verbal altercation that concluded when hedecided to leave without purchasing anything.
He alleges that he left the items he intended to purchase in the store and walked out to the parking lot, at which time he was accosted by a security guard who sprayed Ross with pepper spray, pushed him and struck him without cause or provocation.
Ross is seeking damages in excess of $50,000. He is being represented in the case by attorneys from Deutschman & Associates P.C.
