Three medical care facilities are sued following alleged nursing care negligence

Three medical care facilities are facing a lawsuit over claims they were negligent or violated the Nursing Home Care Act.

L.J. Keller filed a lawsuit Oct. 30 in Cook County Circuit Court against Presence Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center, formerly known as Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center, doing business as Saint Mary of Nazareth Hospital, Clark Manor Convalescent Center Inc., doing business as Clark Manor Convalescent Center, and Lakeview Rehabilitation and Nursing Center LLC, doing business as Lakeview Rehab & Nursing Center.

The plaintiff states that on Dec. 17, 2011, he was a admitted to Saint Mary of Nazareth Hospital, at 2233 W. Division St. in Chicago. While he was a patient, he claims the defendant failed to properly care for him, including failing to prevent and care for pressure sores.

According to the complaint, Keller was admitted to Clark Manor Convalescent Center at 7433 N. Clark St. in Chicago in March 2012. While a patient, he claims he developed pressure ulcers, skin breakdown, dehydration and infection. The plaintiff contends Clark Manor Convalescent Center violated the Nursing Home Care Act.

The complaint also alleges that in May 2012, Keller was admitted to Lakeview Rehab & Nursing Center at 735 W. Diversey Parkway in Chicago. While receiving nursing home and rehabilitative services, Keller asserts that the defendant failed to prevent pressure sores, skin breakdown, dehydration and infection. The plaintiff states Lakeview Rehab & Nursing Center's actions constitute a violation of the Nursing Home Care Act.

Keller is seeking more than $50,000 in damages. He is being represented in the case by Jason Kellerman of the Law Offices of Steven J. Malman & Associates P.C.
