A man is suing after he fell while performing his job duties.

Jerome Currie filed a lawsuit Nov. 25 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Union Pacific Railroad Co., citing negligence.

According to the plaintiff, Currie was working for the defendant in Kansas City on Nov. 5, 2011, when he was injured after a handle on a Union Pacific truck broke and caused him to fall.

He claims the defendant negligently failed to provide safe and suitable equipment, failed to furnish Currie with necessary and proper supervision, failed to warn, allowed unsafe practices, assigned work that would likely result in injury, failed to provide a safe place and method to work and failed to furnish sufficient manpower.

Currie is seeking more than $50,000 in damages. He is being represented in the case by Gregory M. Tobin of Pratt & Tobin PC.
