A local hospital and some of its doctors are facing suit over claims they provided inadequate medical care.
Sue Lim, individually and as the mother and next of friend of minor Walker Lim, filed a lawsuit Nov. 4 in Cook County Circuit Court against Swedish Covenant Hospital, Dr. Rickin Arun Shah and Dr. Charles Strulovitch, both individually and as agents of Swedish Covenant Hospital, citing medical malpractice and family expense act.
According to the suit, Walker Lim went to the defendant's emergency room complaining of shortness of breath on Oct. 18. The plaintiffs claim the defendants decided to intubate Lim, but did not do so in a timely fashion and failed to timely notify anesthesia services to assist in the intubation.
The plaintiffs contend that as a result of the defendants' negligence, Lim suffered hypoxic brain injury.
They are seeking damages in excess of the jurisdictional minimum. They are being represented in the case by Kenneth A. Hoffman of Mitchell Hoffman & Wolf.
