A local medical center and doctor are facing a lawsuit over claims they provided inadequate medical care.
Michele Slutsky filed a medical malpractice lawsuit Nov. 5 in Cook County Circuit Court against Vein Clinics of America Inc. and Dr. Robert Shapiro.
The complaint states from May 17, 2012 until Aug. 22, 2012, Slutsky went to the defendant for medical treatment. She claims that Shapiro negligently failed to properly inject her with the sclerosing material and failed to obtain informed consent.
As a result of the defendant's negligence, the suit asserts the plaintiff was injured, underwent unnecessary medical treatment, suffered and will continue to suffer from osteoporosis and related complications of long term medical use.
Slutsky is seeking damages in excess of the jurisdictional minimum. She is being represented in the case by Don M. Sowers of Motherway & Napleton LLP.
