Chicago attorney sued for legal malpractice

Scales

A local attorney is being sued over allegations of professional malpractice.

Paul Madison filed a legal malpractice lawsuit Nov. 27 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Ernesto D. Borges Jr. and The Law Offices of Ernesto D. Borges Jr. P.C.

Madison alleges that Borges failed to file a witness list and a list of exhibits with the court by the Feb. 1 deadline. As a result, the suit states, Madison waived his right to introduce evidence or exhibits at his trial, foreclosed his ability to meet his burden and ultimately did not receive a discharge in his Chapter 7 Bankruptcy case,.

He claims the defendants failed to properly advise him, failed to file with the court a witness list and exhibit list, allowed his bankruptcy petition to be dismissed by failing to comply, failed to properly defend and failed to file a proper Notice of Appeal.

The plaintiff is seeking damages in an excess of jurisdictional limits. He is being represented in the case by I. Peter Polansky and John T. Cichon of Polansky & Cichon Chtd.
