A woman is suing, claiming she slipped on a traffic cone while at a blood drive.
Sandra Rochford filed a lawsuit Oct. 31 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Aurora Area Blood Bank, doing business as Heartland Blood Centers, and Chicago Public Schools District, doing business as Charles N. Holden Elementary School, citing negligence and premise liability.
According to the plaintiff, Heartland Blood Centers conducted a blood drive on Nov. 2, 2012 at Charles N. Holden Elementary School. Rochford says she entered the school to complete paperwork to donate blood when she slipped on a traffic cone, twisted her ankle and fell onto concrete stairs.
She claims the defendants' negligence caused her to sustain injuries.
Rochford is seeking more than $50,000 in damages. She is being represented in the case by Bruno R. Marasso of Romanucci & Blandin LLC.
