Local hospital sued after patient is injured in fall

A Brookfield resident is suing after falling while in the care of a local hospital.

Arthur Gallegos filed a lawsuit Oct. 2 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Palos Community Hospital, citing negligence.

According to the complaint, Gallegos was a patient at Palos Community Hospital, 12251 S. 80th Ave., Palos Heights, on Aug. 12, 2012, after presenting himself to the hospital complaining of shortness of breath. Hospital staff determined Gallegos to be at high risk from fall after he was admitted. The defendant then failed to provide proper care for Gallegos and he fell, resulting in severe and permanent personal injuries, pain and suffering and mental anguish, according to the complaint.

Gallegos is seeking damages in excess of $50,000. He is being represented in the case by attorney Mark T. Schneid of the Law Offices of Mathys & Schneid.
